Identifying Characteristics:
Seed: ovate shaped with notch near wide end; faint groove near hilum; size varies from 1.6 to 1.8 mm long and 1.0 to 1.3 mm wide; tan to reddish brown in color, may be mottled with purple spots; smooth surface
Seedling: pinnately trifoliate leaves; linear leaflets with pointed tips; underside of leaflets may be hairy
Mature Plant: erect growth habit; single or clusters of 2 to 4 flowers at leaf axils; cream to purple colored flowers; becomes woody with age
Method of Propagation: seed
Life Cycle: warm-season perennial
