Identifying Characteristics:

Seed:   triangular shape; “boat-shaped” lemma; size is approximately 2 mm long & 1 mm wide

Seedling:    leaves folded in whorl; short, flat, narrow leaf blades; fringe of hairs as ligule; hairs at collar region; no auricles; two nodes are often stacked together

Mature Plant:  prostrate to semi-erect growth habit; panicle inflorescence with 3 to 7 finger-like branches; spikelets are arranged in two rows on one side of the spike 

Method of Propagation: stolons, rhizomes, seed

Life Cycle: warm-season perennial
