Identifying Characteristics:
Seed: triangular shaped with two spine-like projections at the apex; short spines on projections; brown to reddish brown in color; “mountain goat head”
Seedling: oval to lanceolate leaves with serrated margins; softly pubescent stem; short spines form at the base of leaf blades
Mature Plant: erect, branching growth habit; single, small flower in leaf axils; yellow in color; will create rounded seed pod
Method of Propagation: seed
Life Cycle: warm-season annual
