Seed: tan colored seed; arched in side view; short, stiff bristles on lemma; can be awned; light, longitudinal lines on dorsal side
Seedling: leaves rolled in whorl; smooth, broad, glabrous leaf blades; broad collar; no auricles or ligule
Mature Plant: mostly erect growth habit; panicle inflorescence with many branches; nearly sessile, one-sided racemes
